The ‘Legacy tuned by STI 2005’ models, based on the BL/BP Legacy Station Wagon and Legacy Sedan 2.0GT spec.B were both developed from STI's original concept of ‘enhancing a feeling of comfort’. Of the main components added to the base models were the Brembo 17-inch brake callipers, the STI stainless mesh brake hose, 18-inch aluminium wheels, reinforced low down spring, and pillow ball bush rear suspension link for the braking and suspension systems, as well as the STI front under spoiler and small trunk spoiler (sedan model only) for the exterior. These models were characterised by their tuning which focussed on an improved driving performance in a balanced manner, rather than appearance. Efforts were made to create a good atmosphere in the cabin, such as adding a special 260km/h speedometer, a leather covered automatic transmission selection lever (or leather covered manual transmission shift knob) as well as Alcantara and leather front seats with STI logo embroidery.
