The Impreza S201 STI version was a tuned car based on the GC8 Impreza, with STI putting all its know-how and expertise into creating a superb on-road sport car. Engine output was increased to 300 PS through the use of both a special sport ECU and modifications to the intake and exhaust systems. Chassis performance was enhanced with reinforced suspension to adjust car height, a rear full pillow lateral link, and rear full pillow trailing link, while 16-inch forged aluminium wheels, developed jointly with RAYS were fitted. The drive system featured a front helical LSD. In addition to a front aero bumper with integrated grill, a large air scoop, bullet door mirrors, side skirts and rear door spats, and double-wing rear spoiler, the diffuser-shaped rear aero bumper created a powerful form. As a result, this vehicle boasted a Spartan image in both its performance and appearance.
