Development of STI AERO PARTS

Drawing directly on the expertise and creativity of engineers involved in motorsport, STI applies their insights to the development of Aero Parts designed for use on public roads.
A representative example of this is the rear wing. Through our pursuit of optimal aerodynamic performance for motorsport vehicles, we found that adopting a swan‑neck mounting structure increases rear downforce and contributes to greater high‑speed stability. This expertise led to the development of the swan‑neck‑type DRY CARBON REAR SPOILER designed for use on public roads.
The development process comprises many stages. It begins with product planning, followed by extensive analysis and detailed design. Prototypes are then produced and subjected to more than a year of evaluation testing—including snow testing, on‑road testing, and wind‑tunnel evaluations.
Only after these performance verifications are completed are STI Aero Parts finalized and made available to the public.
STI Aero Parts are developed in close collaboration with SUBARU’s design team, ensuring seamless integration with each model’s exterior while fully expressing the vehicle’s inherent performance. To achieve this harmony between design and function, every detail is refined with precision.
For example:
-The front under spoiler is engineered to ensure that the pedestrian protection airbag sensors do not trigger erroneously after installation.
-The intended functionality of SUBARU’s original sensor systems is fully retained.
-The design prevents unnecessary airflow from striking the tires directly.
-Airflow is carefully controlled to manage volume and pressure, preventing excess air from entering the wheel housings and maintaining a stable flow environment.
Many other fine adjustments are made with the same level of technical precision and attention to detail.
