STI overcame two challenges in its development of the LEGACY tS. One has been the use of a 2.5 liter NA (naturally aspirated) engine. The other is the introduction of EyeSight (ver.2) for the first time in an STI road car. Further, the new generation of horizontally opposed engine has been used as its power unit, which greatly enhances the fuel economy of the car in addition to giving the feeling of exhilaration by its effortless engine revolution. Although models with a turbo engine may be faster, the LEGACY tS offers enough power for a satisfactory acceleration on highways and the unique characteristics of the boxer engine are on display as much as in the turbo charged models. At the same time, the latest driving support system equipped in this car enhances the sense of security. The model’s 18-inch tires and wheels, suspension (specially tuned for STI) and STI Flexible series allow the owner a ‘flexible yet elegant driving feel’ as well as a premium quality to the car. The LEGACY tS presents a new direction for STI models.
