SUBARU / STI to Compete in 2026 Nürburgring 24-Hour Race
Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI), Subaru’s motorsport subsidiary, announced that it will compete in the 54th Nürburgring 24‑Hour Race, to be held from May 14 to 17, 2026, at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. This marks the 17th participation for SUBARU/ STI in the iconic endurance race since its debut in 2008.

As in the previous year, SUBARU will compete in the SP4T class*2 with the SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE 2026, based on the WRX S4, aiming not only for victory in the SP4T class but also for a top overall finish, including competitors in the higher SP8T class. The Nürburgring is regarded as one of the toughest circuits in the world, with a total length of approximately 25 km, an elevation difference of 300 meters, and continuously changing weather conditions. To enable drivers to achieve both speed and precise controllability under such extreme conditions, the race car has been further refined by fully utilizing Subaru’s fundamental layouts, including the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), the horizontally opposed engine, and the symmetrical AWD system. 【Key Updates for SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE 2026】 ■Power Unit •Peak output increased by 6.5% through revised restrictor control. •Improved transient response and controllability through electrification of the turbo wastegate. ■Brake System •Enhanced vehicle stability through the adoption of a newly developed ABS unit ■Suspension •Improved inside rear wheel contact during cornering by revising roll center height. •Enhanced durability of suspension ball joints. ■Aerodynamics■ •Improved cornering performance through newly developed aerodynamic mirrors. Masuo Takatsu serves as Team Director, bringing extensive experience in both production vehicle development and the development of STI engineered special models. Takuya Sawada serves as Team Manager, while Naoki Shibuya oversees vehicle development as Technical Manager. The driver lineup consists of four drivers: Carlo van Dam , Kota Sasaki , Takuto Iguchi , and Rintaro Kubo. Since the Safari Rally in 1990, SUBARU has continuously dispatched selected dealership technicians to motorsport activities. For the 2026 Nürburgring 24‑Hour Race, eight carefully selected dealership technicians from across Japan will join the team to support race operations. Through this initiative, the SUBARU Group continues to further refine the technical skills of its technicians and remains committed to delivering “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” to its customers. *1 Subaru Tecnica International Inc.
